Welcome to the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating to a new Junior Ice Dance Team from down under. Anastasia and Nick began their journey in Ice Dance just a few short months ago in April of this year.
Nicholas who lives in Melbourne had to do the commute every weekend for six weeks until he was able to move from there to Sydney. Since June, they have been training full time so they may not bring experience to this first foray into the international skating scene, but plenty of enthusiasm for their future together.
Anastasia is just 15 and began skating in singles in 2009 and reached Advanced Novice in solo. She started in Dance early this year.
Nick is 17. He started skating in 2010 thru the Australian ‘Learn to Skate’ program and reached Intermediate in solo. Until March this year, he was competing in two disciplines. The following Australian event results are listed on his bio:
2014 Crystal Challenge Champion Novice A Dance, Novice A solo
2014 Victorian SCT Champion Novice A Dance, Novice A solo
2015 Victorian State Champion Intermediate solo
2015 Victorian State Champion Novice B Dance
2015 National Champions Novice B Dance (did not compete solo)
2016 Australian representative at Mentor Nestle Cup, Poland Novice B Dance
Since Nick teamed up with Anastasia they have just two Aussie events to their credit:
2016 Hollins Trophy. 3rd place (June)
2016 Crystal Challenge. 3rd place (August)
We wish Anastasia and Nick good luck for this season. They kick off their international level career with their Short Dance on Friday skating 3rd in the first group of Ice Dance teams in Tallinn.
